ABOUT THE PROJECT:
The Patchwork Healing Blanket/ La manta de curación project was born in Oaxaca at the initiative of curator, artist, and cultural promoter Marietta Bernstorff who, through her research into the history of patchwork and quilting in Mexico and the United States, decided to begin this social project with various curator, historian, writer and artist friends. It is a collaborative social public art project whose objective is to be a peaceful demonstration in the different cities where it is exhibited, so that societies around the world become aware of violence against children, women and Mother Earth.
The fabrics are made – embroidered, printed, woven, intervened – by women from all over the world so that “piece by piece, and from country to country” they come together and become several great blankets of healing and healing for both women and men. for their children and their families.
The movement is a peaceful action to express and transform the pain produced by acts of violence that occur daily and a form of solidarity with women worldwide.
United as women, with one voice, we can achieve change.
